Official Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Hospital

The official groundbreaking ceremony of 540 bed pediatric hospital was launched on Wednesday at the new Omid hospital site. The ceremony was attended by D. Ghazizadeh Hashemi, minister of Health, Dr. Shahriari, head of Goodwill Health Assembly, APHP representatives, UNHCR representatives, and France embassy agents along with celebrities including Rakhshan Banietemad, Narges Abyar and Mehraveh Sharifinia and other Zanjireh Omid supporters. Following an agreement between TUMS and Zanjireh Omid Charity Institute, Zanjireh Omid initiated the construction of the new hospital on August 9th, in Tehran, funded by donations. The hospital units will include: surgery, accommodation, rehabilitation center, research center and etc.
Pointing out to the institute background, Maryam Marashi, Managing Director of Zanjireh Omid Charity Institute stated: " Zanjireh Omid Hospital, has been able to send 85 French medical teams to Iran with the help of La Chaîne de l'Espoir, and over 8600 children with cardiac, orthopedic and reconstructive conditions have been treated over the past 10 years." The hospital will be constructed in 25000 square meter land. After signing a contract with Zanjireh Omid, French APHP Company conducted a feasibility study through partnership of Tina Faryand Consultation Co.
Maryam Marashi added that Zanjireh Omid has no financial partner in this project. Three types of beneficiary have been defined for the hospital including: underprivileged children, children with insurance coverage and well- off children. All the three groups receive same and equal services at the hospital. The institute aims to train qualified medical staff as the hospital project moves forward.
Dr. Sahahriar, head of Goodwill Health Assembly also made a speech at the ceremony and said:" Mrs. Marashi has done valuable job in the field of pediatric healthcare and imbued healthcare field with new life today at this "ceremony.
Minister of health paid tribute to Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, late chairman of Expediency Discernment Council, and said: "I support all donors making tremendous effort for people's welfare." He described the new hospital located in the south part of Tehran as a valuable project and added:" There are around 700 healthcare NGOs in Iran which Zanjireh Omid is one of them, I'm hopeful that efforts made by donors such as Maryam Marashi improve social welfare and healthcare services in Iran."
