These days, Zanjireh Omid is struggling with many problems, and if nothing is done to solve the problems, thousands of sick children, who are in need and without financial support, will continue to live with pain and suffering. In order to explain the problems, we had a conversation with Maryam Marashi, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zanjireh Omid International Charity.

At the beginning, she pointed out that this institution does not only provide treatment allowances, but also follows up from zero to one hundred treatments, and said: Zanjireh Omid’s motto is "The best medical services according to the international standards at the lowest cost".

She emphasized: "We at Zanjireh Omid not only treat sick children and perform sub-specialized surgeries, but also we pay the costs before and after the operation." We have treated and operated on more than 16,000 children from all over Iran, who sometimes came to us from deprived areas, in the children's residence located on Tajrish street. It should also be noted that about 4,000 of these children are refugees. It should be noted that each child may have been operated several times and some of these children have been in contact with Zanjireh Omid for more than seven years and we follow up their treatment process.

Referring to the fact that the owner of this building is the endowments and Charitable Affairs Organization, and these days they have faced challenges with this organization, Marashi said: This building is both a center for performing pre- and post-operative work and a place for children's physiotherapy. Volunteer doctors work with us in this center. Also, 1200 mothers and children use the services of this residence every year. Under the supervision of the same doctors and by experienced therapists, special rehabilitation services for children including physiotherapy, physical occupational therapy, mental occupational therapy, speech therapy, space suit and hydrotherapy are provided at the residence to children who have been hospitalized with their mothers from villages and cities all over the country. It is provided completely free of charge so that they can regain their health as much and faster as possible.

The Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zanjireh Omid International Charity emphasized: Unfortunately, the Organization of Endowments and Charitable Affairs has ordered the evacuation of this residence and has decided to close this place. However, we are negotiating to resolve this issue. For years, this medical residence has been adapted for children, and it is very difficult to find another place and move this amount of equipment. Also, this place has been known for many years and it seems that endowments organization can cooperate with us to save the children.

Maryam Marashi further said about the obstacles that have arisen for the progress of the Zanjireh Omid pediatric hospital project in Javadiyeh, Tehran: the president of the University of Tehran, Mr. Ghanaati, with the cooperation of the mayor of Tehran, Mr. Zakani, as well as the mayor of District 11, for several months have prevented the completion of the construction of this hospital. We have leased this land from Tehran University for 99 years and so far 18% of the project has progressed with an amount of about 400 billion Tomans.

She added: without providing any reason, the municipality has asked us to fill the excavation site of this project, we do not even know the cause of these events.

In the end, Maryam Marashi said: This institution has neither political nor economic suspicions. We do not receive any bilateral aid for the affairs of Institute and we request the cooperation of the relevant organizations and institutions to follow the activity of Zanjireh Omid Institute for the treatment of sick children.
