The sub-specialized pediatric orthopedic clinic was held with the presence of Dr. Nabian

Zanjireh Omid's effort to improve children's movement problems

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

On August 22, 2024, the Zanjireh Omid Institute hosted a pediatric orthopedic subspecialty clinic, where 25 children with movement disorders were examined.

The clinic, which began at 10:00 A.M, focused on children with leg and hip problems, as well as patients with cerebral palsy (CP).

Of the 25 patients, 12 were new to the institute. Dr. Nabian, after conducting initial examinations, provided accurate diagnoses, and offered instructions for starting treatment. Some of the patients presented with severe deformities and congenital issues, which had been previously rejected by other doctors. Due to severe economic challenges and the complexity of their children's treatment, these families sought help from Zanjireh Omid.

For these new patients, medical records were created at Zanjireh Omid, and after assessing their conditions, treatment will begin with the assistance of Zanjireh Omid’s volunteer doctors.

Among the patients, 12 are candidates for surgery, which will be scheduled at the appropriate time. Additionally, 7 patients require the use of KAFO (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis) and AFO (Ankle-Foot Orthosis) devices at night. They were referred to equipment companies under contract with Zanjireh Omid to have these devices made.

One patient, a 17-year-old girl, had both orthopedic and reconstructive needs due to an accident. Separate orthopedic and reconstructive cases were opened for her, and she is scheduled to undergo both reconstructive and orthopedic surgeries.

The Zanjireh Omid International Institute continuously strives to improve the quality of life for underprivileged children by providing subspecialized services.
